Managed Money Shorts in Gold and Silver Making New Records (COT Report)

Since I charted this I have never seen such record highs in Managed Money Shorts.
Everyone and their cat is short the precious metals market. So this is a good indicator of a bottom.

Gold/Silver COT Report Points to Bottom

Very good news today, it looks like silver has found a bottom. The amount of managed money silver short positions has reached the same highs as in 2015 and 2016, while the silver price is higher. So I believe we could see silver rise to $18/ounce.

Gold is doing even better as the gold price went up while managed money short positions went up too. I will be buying some silver mines soon.

Gold: Huge Disconnect Between East and West

I see that the West is not buying precious metals anymore, while the East is buying with both hands. This is visible in the premiums.

Junk silver premiums are at record lows:


While Shanghai silver premiums are at record highs:


Apmex gold premiums are at record lows:


Shanghai gold premiums are going up:


So I'm not sure if we have a bull market or a bear market right now...

When we look at the managed money shorts, we see improvement in the silver market.

So I'm a little bit positive about the silver market right now. I recommend to buy some silver at this time.
